21 Half Marathons in 21 Days
Updated: May 3, 2020
21 half marathons in 21 days, all to raise awareness for mental health. In June, Mark Avery was supposed to be running from Brisbane to Sydney to raise funds for “Gotcha 4 Life” but given the announcements over last month, unfortunately, it had to be postponed. Throughout these uncertain times, building fitness is more important than ever, so that's why I joined him on his challenge of running 21 half marathons in 21 days whilst promoting mental health awareness. It's been a great learning curve for me as I realise more and more of the importance of recovery after these runs. It wasn't until days six and seven that I hit a roadblock. My calves were extremely tight and have never felt like this before being quite fatigued, only being able to massage them out with hot rocks. I ran into a past injury having had a little niggle from years ago, which it made difficult on some of the runs especially on day 12, but as in ultra-running, you have one niggle in one place and the next day it moves to a different place.
